Romancing the Archivist by Peter Chilson

This article from the online literary magazine The Smart Set is, according to William Miles, a foretaste of Chilson’s current research and writing project, We Never Knew Exactly Where: Stories from a Borderland in Africa.

Set in the borderland of Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, both “Romancing the Archivist” and “The Border” (also published in this magazine) personalize the dubious quest of trying to pinpoint actual boundary lines from within an erstwhile single colonial entity.
